There's nothing quite like a juicy, fresh, drip down your chin peach. It screams the simple life of childhood freedom and fun. Peach Dumplings with crescent rolls and Sprite are one of the most favorite recipes for adults and children everywhere.

The Problem- Guests for Dinner

Short on time but still want to serve up a tasty dessert to your guests? I know that stress of wanting to please your dinner guests. You want everything to turn out, but maybe you don't feel super comfortable in the kitchen.

Or, if you do, maybe you don't want to slave in it all day.

GUESTS CAN BE STRESSFUL!

  • Will they like it?
  • Will anyone be allergic?
  • Is anyone gluten free?

There's already enough going on in your brain, let's not make it worse.

The Secret

Choose a dessert that hits comfort feelings and is semi-homemade.

You'll have less time and stress in the kitchen.

But more importantly doing a dessert that reminds someone of the easy days of growing up will sell them on it no matter how well it turned out.

And you know you agree. There's something about comfort food that just brings people together.

This recipe is based off of our APPLE DUMPLINGS RECIPE.

Which is Better, Apple or Peach?

How to Make Simple Peach Dumplings

  1. Peel your peaches by slicing an x at the bottom of your peach. Using a paring knife, gently pull back the skin until all has been removed.
  2. Slice and pit the peach and then cut into 8 equal pieces. The bigger the peach the more filling so try to avoid tiny peaches or you may need to do 2 peaches.
  3. Place peaches and filling ingredients in a bowl, gently folding with a scooped rubber spatula to avoid mashing the fruit.
  4. Unwrap the crescent rolls and gently press them out a little bigger.
  5. Scoop a peach into the center of each triangle and wrap it closed. Place in a pan.
  6. Melt the butter and mix with the brown sugar etc and pour heavily over each dumpling.
  7. Pour sprite ONLY along the sides and in between dumplings.
  8. Bake and eat!

How to Store Peach Dumplings

Peach dumplings DO NOT store for very long. Dough and sauces tend to break down.

DO

  • Store in the dish they were baked in to avoid breaking the dumplings.
  • Wrap the dish or cover with a tight fitting lid.
  • Store in the refrigerator for 1 day.

DO NOT

  • Reheat multiple times as they will fall apart and be yucky. That's a technical term. 😉
  • Do not leave on the counter as it doesn't preserve them well enough.

Canned Peach Dumplings with Crescent Rolls

I know you want to, but canned peaches really aren't as good in this dish.

Canned peaches are often stored in a simple syrup which not only changes the flavor and texture but the sweetness of the dish.

If you DO use CANNED PEACHESbe sure to sample the filling and add sugar and spice based on needs.

Can I use Biscuit Dough Instead of Crescent Rolls

Biscuit dough will bake up differently than crescent rolls as they are thicker and more substantial but you can use biscuit dough.

If you do, make sure you go for a flaky biscuit versus a more crumbly southern biscuit.

Can You Use Frozen Peaches?

Frozen peaches should be defrosted if you use them, but again, fresh is best.

I'm convinced I would eat peach dumplings every night if I could! SO. DANG. GOOD. The caramel sauce on these is everything!

  • Peel the peaches and slice into 8 pieces

  • Toss the peaches in a large bowl with the cinnamon sugar and flour.

  • Pat out each crescent triangle a little bigger.Roll each peach slice in a crescent roll and place in a buttered dish.

  • Into the melted butter, stir in brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over the tops of all the dumplings.

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until they become golden brown.Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or alone.

Selecting good, ripe freestone peaches is essential in this recipe. A Sun Haven or Intrepid are great choices. We don't love Early Elberta's in baking.

Store left over dumplings covered, in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
